Obituary: Bennett, Peggy Suzanne

Age 84

BENNETT,
Peggy
Suzanne
(Age 83)

Peggy Suzanne Bennett went home Friday, April 8, to be with her Lord and Savior after a wonderful life.

She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends.

She was born in the spring of ‘32, the second of three children to Bert and Minnie Wonsmos, in Spicer, Minnesota.

She grew up all over the Inland Empire and West Coast with her parents who were traveling artists.

She graduated from Coeur d’ Alene High School in 1950 where she was a dedicated student and talented athlete.

Shortly after graduation she received nurses training at the Sacred Heart Nursing School in Spokane.

In 1953 she married her soul mate, Don Bennett, and they spent 63 years loving each other as husband and wife.

She was an accomplished artist herself, taking great pride and pain- staking care in painting nature scenes.

She was particularly enamored with the Oregon Coast and the Cannon Beach, Haystack Rock area.

In the mid ‘50s she and Don used the last $2000 they had to their name to purchase an old ice house and bar with 20 acres near Newman Lake, that they converted into their forever home and remains their residence to this day.

They adopted their only child, a baby girl, Judy Kay, in July of 1964.

Peggy devoted every waking minute to make sure that Judy had the love and support she needed to flourish.

She was an amazing mother, doing everything she could to help Judy be successful in school and life.

She was a woman of deep faith, softly spoken, kind, generous to a fault, and always caring more for others than she did herself.

She and Don opened their home and their hearts to three grandchildren, Rile, Colton, and Ellie.

Peggy was instrumental in helping the children grow into the adults they are today providing the love and guidance that only the best grandparents can give.

She was a strong, independent thinker, often going against the suggestion of friends and neighbors regarding caring for her grandchildren and loved them fully and completely.

She was kind to all she met, always warmly greeting visitors and friends.

She was a loving and devoted wife and a true Proverbs 31 woman.

She has received her reward in heaven, and heard those precious words, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”

She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Minnie Wonsmos, and her older brother Buddy.

She leaves behind: husband of 63 years Don Bennett; daughter Judy Reavis, son-in-law Robert Reavis, grandchildren Rile, Colton, and Ellie Reavis; sister Jackie Claflin; sister-in-law Rose Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Anthem Friends Church, 251 W. Miles Ave., Hayden, ID.

A short reception will follow the services at the church.
