Born June 30, 1936 in Bergenfield, NJ, John Kenneth Nodes learned to talk about the time his family moved to Queens, NY where he acquired and maintained his loveable NY accent.

At age three, his family moved to Hoboken, NJ.

He attended Our Lady of Grace School and Church where he was an altar boy.
When he turned 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged three years later.

Returning home, he became a member of the Hoboken Police Department.

Two years later he tested for and became a fireman.

He was born to be a firefighter and relished all 27 years of service.

About half of those years were spent in Hoboken with the remaining served in Asbury Park, NJ.
In 1986 Ken and his wife Diane retired to Spirit Lake, ID.

Diane passed away in 1993.

In 1999, he married Elaine Traaen who survives him along with his daughters, Jacqueline Toro of Coeur d’ Alene, ID, Christine McCormack of Pt.

Pleasant, NJ; brother Dr. Daniel Nodes, Baylor University, Waco, TX; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, Caroline and John K. Nodes, sister Margaret, and brother Peter.
Ken passed away on April 14, 2016 at Hospice House of North Idaho.

His was a life well lived and we already miss that twinkle in his eye.

Private services were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake on Saturday, April 16th with burial to follow in Spirit Lake Cemetery.
