College roundup: Gonzaga golfer Sean Walsh voted co-WCC Player of the Year
Gonzaga senior Sean Walsh, sharing the title with Saint Mary’s golfer Jonathan De Los Reyes, on Thursday became the first player in school history to win West Coast Conference Player of the Year honors.
Walsh currently has a 71.50 scoring average, nearly two strokes better the the program record.
Women’s golf
Gonzaga freshman Bianca Pagdanganan and junior Ciera Min were named to the All-West Coast Conference First Team, with Pagdanganan also sharing Freshman of the Year honors with BYU’s Rose Huang.
Baseball
Gonzaga senior shortstop Dustin Breshears was named to the 54-man midseason watchlist for the Brooks Wallace Award, presented annually to the top collegiate player at the position. The award will be presented July 2 in Lubbock, Texas.
Tennis
Washington State senior Trang Huynh won her first-round singles match at the Pac-12 Championships in Ojai, California, 6-3, 6-2 over Colorado’s Annabell Andrinopoulos and was halted in the round of 16 by top-seeded Maegan Manasse of Cal 6-1, 6-0. WSU’s Barbora Michalkova lost her first-round match 7-6 (3), 6-1 to Arizona’s Lauren Marker.
