Obituary: Vosburgh, Michael Loren
Age 71
VOSBURGH,
Michael Loren
Was born on a Sunday afternoon in Spokane on June 25, 1944.
He lived in Spokane with his brothers, aunts, uncles, and cousins until 1955 when he moved to Columbia Falls.
Mike graduated Columbia Falls High School in 1963 and moved to Missoula to go to college.
He enjoyed his college social life so much that he was asked to leave in 1965 where he tried again at SCC in Spokane.
He graduated with an AA degree and moved to Wheaton, Illinois in 1968.
Mike married Viola Sindt in 1968, moved back to Spokane in 1970, worked at EWU, then started at SCC in 1972, where he worked for the next 41 years, retiring in 2014.
Although heart broken, we feel so very blessed to have had all the special times that we did with him.
Mikey, or Papa Mikey, was truly his family’s hero and was loved by everyone who met him.
Mike had a one-of-a-kind personality, he had an unsurmountable and overwhelming love for his family and was there for them at the drop of a coin.
He was always smiling and laughing, always joking, you couldn’t help but like him.
He was the kindest, most caring, loving, giving man you could meet.
He wanted to help everyone, and was always doing favors or lending things to anyone who asked.
Mike loved to hunt in Idaho with his father-in-law and would fish anywhere he could.
In recent years, his passion was to go fishing and took many family members to experience his favorite sport.
He had several salmon, tuna, and halibut trips under his belt.
Mike loved his farm, his dogs, his truck, and a good (and not-so-good) scotch.
He loved boating, camping at Lake Koocanusa, clamming on the coast, and picking huckleberries.
Mike will be deeply missed by many.
He passed away on April 10, 2016 at the young age of 71.
Mike was a loving father to Rick Vosburgh (Sasha), Lorie Warren (Tim), and Cherie Hirschberger (Larry).
He loved to spoil his grandkids, Josh, Hailey, Mariah, Ayden, Jacey, Kendra, Hunter, Tucker, and adored his great-grandchild, Sharlotte.
Mike was a loving companion to Cheri Seal and like a father to Ben and Gena Hawk and Selena Rankin.
Mike was preceded in death by his mom, Lydia Lorraine and dad, Francis Frederick, his brother Charles and sisters-in-law Sue and Joy.
Mike is survived by his brother Robert, and his kids, Rick, Lorie, and Cherie.
We will forever miss his hugs and kisses, the sound of his laughter, the twinkle in his eye and the smell of his (pipe) tobacco smoke.
Heaven has truly gained a special angel!
Please join us for a celebration of Mikey’s life on Saturday, May 14th at 5:00 pm at Arbor Crest Winery, 4705 N. Fruithill Road.
