Frank D. Garrett, a lifelong Endicott area rancher, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Whitman Health and Rehab Center in Colfax.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 28th, at 1:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott with burial to follow in the Endicott Cemetery.
Frank was born April 21, 1944 in Colfax to Ralph and Helen Morasch Garrett.
He grew up on the family farm near Endicott and attended schools at Endicott where he played on the basketball and football teams.
Frank was also active in FFA.
He graduated high school there in 1962 and enrolled in college at Cal Poly in Sal Luis Obispo, CA.
Frank completed his degree in Animal Sciences at Cal Poly and was just two weeks away from his graduation ceremony when he was drafted into the Army National Guard in 1966.
He was trained as a tank operator.
Frank and his brother Ron moved to a ranch near Winona and worked together there for several years.
Frank always loved the cattle side of the operation the most.
He really liked those cows.
He met Gwendolyn R. Ochs in Colfax and they married March 9, 1974 in Endicott.
They lived in Kahlotus for a couple of years and in 1977 moved to their ranch near Thera.
Frank was an avid hunter and a longtime member of the Endicott Gun Club.
He also belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Angus Association, and was a member of the Endicott School Board for over thirty years.
He loved spending time picking huckleberries or chasing cows.
He was always visiting friends too; whether on the phone or on “adventures” with them.
Frank is survived by his son; Joshua Garrett of Endicott; three grandsons, James Robert, Wyatt Lee, and Lance Richard Garrett; his brother, Robert Garrett of Spokane and two nieces, Shannon Billigmeier and Staci Smith and their families.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gwendolyn in 1999; by his brother Ron, and by his parents.
Memorial gifts are suggested to the American Cancer Society for research.
