Obituary: Smith, Geraldine F. “Geri”
Age 81
SMITH, Geraldine F.
“Geri”
March 15, 1935-
April 19, 2016
Geri died peacefully in her home in Spokane after a nearly three year battle with cancer.
She was born to Homer and Harriet Bales in Horton, Kansas, and is now in the loving arms of the Lord.
She married the love of her life, Dick, and is survived by him and their four children: Nicholas, Kim (Carolyn), Teresa (Ken), and Kristen (John); also by eight loving grandchildren: Kara, Niki, Joshua, Kari, Jared, Tyler, Chase and Anna; and by five great-grandchildren: Brennan, Abigail, Jack, Blake and Ryland.
Geri was a graduate of Salem High School in Salem, Oregon, where she met her husband, marrying in 1953.
Their life together was one of blissful companionship and love.
If they could have their wish of being together, alone, it would be on the beaches of Maui where they shared numerous special times or simply lounging on their sunny deck at home overlooking the Spokane River canyon.
Her zest for life was predicated on the belief that life in general was fun with family being at the center of all.
Family was always paramount to her!
She was happiest when all of her kids and as many grandkids as possible could be around her in her home so she could cook for them.
Each of her kids and grandkids could feel the love and adoration she gave individually to them.
Her bubbly and endearing personality was infectious with people that met her; remarking how beautiful she was…it is safe to say they were also viewing her insides.
She was ornery, a lover of her cats, could spin a yarn, and a voracious reader.
Geri will always be lovingly remembered by her family and many friends.
Her life will be celebrated with Memorial Services being held at Riplinger Funeral Home in Spokane on Saturday, April 30th, at 10 AM.
