Bear spray used in weekend assault near Post Falls

Bear spray was used in an assault near Post Falls early Saturday morning that left multiple people lying in the street, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said.

Three people had purses and cell phones stolen during an earlier robbery in the 8000 block of North Chase Road, the Sheriff’s Office reported. The robbery suspects later called the victims back to the house to get their cell phones, according to a news release. When the victims arrived, two of the suspects approached the car and sprayed three people with bear spray, officials said.

Deputies searched the house, recovering the stolen items and finding meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside, according to a news release. Two small children inside the home were placed with their grandparents and Child Protective Services was contacted.

Megan N. Wilson, 26, was arrested for robbery; aggravated battery; possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia; and injury to children. Austin R. Kelly, 21,was arrested for robbery and aggravated assault. Daniel L. Edginton, 37, was arrested for conspiracy to commit robbery; possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia; and injury to children.
