Tue., Aug. 16, 2016
MILWAUKEE – The sister of a black man shot to death by a Milwaukee police officer says the two men knew each other from high school.
Sylville Smith was shot Saturday afternoon by an officer whom police have not yet named. Smith’s sister Sherelle Smith tells Fox6-TV that the men both went to Pulaski High School on the city’s southwest side.
The officer is 24. Smith was 23. It’s not clear how well the men knew each other. The high school currently has about 1,500 students.
Police say Smith was fleeing a traffic stop and was armed with a handgun when he was shot by the officer, who is also black. The shooting is under investigation.
