Man wounded in West Central shooting

A man was wounded in a shooting in Spokane’s West Central neighborhood late Thursday morning.

Police responded to the 1500 block of West Sharp Avenue just before 11 a.m. and found a man with a serious but non-life threatening wound to his leg, said police spokeswoman Officer Teresa Fuller.

The shooting is under investigation by Major Crimes detectives and the Spokane Regional Safe Streets Task Force. Investigators don’t believe there’s any danger to the community. Witnesses gave conflicting information about how the shooting happened but police believe it was intentional and not accidental, Fuller said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
