Brush fire near Spokane Valley YMCA quickly extinguished
Fri., Aug. 26, 2016
A brush fire behind the Spokane Valley YMCA was put out quickly Friday after a heavy response by the Spokane Valley Fire Department and the Department of Natural Resources.
The fire in a fenced natural area near Mirabeau Park was reported around 1:20 p.m. Friday. Low winds helped crews limit the fire to 1.5 acres of brush and trees even though they were hampered by steep, rocky terrain, according to a fire department news release.
No one was injured and no structures were damaged. A water tender truck from Spokane County Fire District 9 also assisted the firefighting effort. The cause of the fire is under investigation by DNR.
