Obituary: Grant, Walter B. “Babe”

Age 89

GRANT, Walter B.

“Babe”

(Age 89)

Passed away on January 29, 2016 in Spokane, WA.

He was born at the family home in Spokane, WA on December 18, 1926 to Arthur G. and Louise Raun-Grant.

He was the youngest of seven children — brothers Edward, Wallace (Wally), Carl (Toddy), Fred (Fritz) and Arthur (Bummy) and sister, Ruth — all of which have passed before him.
Babe spent many of his years working to support his family.

He grew up enjoying the outdoors.

Marriage and family provided the opportunity to share in his enjoyment of what nature had to offer.

He worked for Air Liquide in Spokane, WA before retiring after 45 years.

Retirement allowed for more time with family and friends, traveling, reading, listening to his music and honing his craft of woodworking.

Babe created many wonderful wooden masterpieces over the years - each piece, large and/or small reflected the devotion of time and true talent he had for his craft.
Babe is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Beverly.

Their six children and their spouses — Kathryn Fredericksen (Rob); Walter Grant JR (Julie); Stuart Grant; Cindy Close (Mike); Deborah Lorentz (Tim); Gordon Grant (Karen).

Their seven grandchildren (Michelle and David Sharp, Morgan and Riley Grant, Renae and Marcus Lorentz and Tegan Grant) and long-time family friend, Ralph Kennedy.
His presence, quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by all.
The Grant family would like to thank the caregivers, Mary and Beverly from Guardian Angel Care and RN Amanda and PT Kathy from Providence VNA - you provided great care for him and he enjoyed each of you.
His final resting place is Holy Cross Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lilac Services for the Blind, 1212 N. Howard St., Spokane, WA 99201.
