Confederate flag a stain

Prayers and kudos to Jon Ruggles for calling out racists in his community. Confederate flag sympathizers such as Patricia Wolford from Mullan, and Rep. Heather Scott from Blanchard, should know that all of the Southerners I have spoken to view the Confederate flag as a stain and shame on our national heritage.

Born in Florida, my family and my friends liken the Confederate flag to Germany’s Nazi swastika. Both are symbols of hatred and degradation of fellow human beings.

I have friends in Germany, and it is universally unacceptable to display swastikas on their autos and homes for the obvious reason that, like the Confederate flag, there is nothing proud and inspirational about abject oppression in any form.
