73 Years of Life
Frances “Frankie” Louise Peacock Lauer, 73, a resident of San Diego, California, formerly of Spokane, Washington, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at her home.
She is the dear wife of Ralph E. Lauer, II and the loving mother and mother-in-law of AnnaLisa Lauer-Hansing and Richard K. Hansing and R. Edward Lauer, III and Kasia Lauer.
Frankie enjoyed her two grandsons, R.J. Hansing, IV and Matthew E. Hansing.
Her brother, Dr. John H. Peacock, M.D., and family reside in Reno, Nevada.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Eldred Giles Peacock and Roberta Shanks Peacock and her sister, Marjorie Whitten.
Born in 1942 at St. Maries, Idaho, she attended Roosevelt Grade School and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane with the Class of 1960.
She attended the University of Washington in Seattle graduating in 1964 earning her Bachelor of Arts degree.
She was a “Husky Honey” and was awarded the “Phi Beta Kappa Key”.
Upon graduating from the University of Washington, Frankie attended Pennsylvania State University located at State Park, Pennsylvania.
Her studies focused on Medieval Comparative Literature in Old English and Old German and she earned her Masters of Arts degree in the late 1960s.
She enjoyed the study of language and was very fluent in High German, Spanish, and read, wrote, and understood Latin.
Her memberships included being a member of the La Jolla Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mayflower Society, and doing genealogy research with the National Genealogy Society.
During high school, Frankie was a Camp Fire counselor at Camp Sweyolakan located at Mica Bay on Lake Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
She truly loved figure skating and could often be found at the ice skating rink.
A funeral service honoring Frankie will be at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at the Featheringill Mortuary in San Diego with Chaplain Timothy Eichler, Captain, United States Navy officiating.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 27, 2016, in Spokane at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery directed by Mr. Mike Rossey of the Cheney Funeral Chapel with Rev.
Dr. Daniel N. Berg officiating.
A gathering for family and friends will follow at the Davenport Hotel located at 10 South Post and Sprague Avenue in Spokane.
