Age 77
SWOFFER, Sally Anne
Passed away…February 8th, 2016.
She was born October 10th, 1938 to Ray and Tina Shields (Veglia) in Santa Maria, CA.
Whether it was playing in the neighborhood, riding her bike to the grocery store for penny candies, or going to the movies, Sally was always busy with friends as a child.
Sally attended the St. Mary’s School (‘53), she graduated from Santa Maria High School in 1957, and then Cal Poly SLO in 1963.
After moving to San Francisco, she met her future husband Mike Swoffer, whom she married in 1966.
After a brief stay in Walla Walla, WA, Sally and Mike moved to Spokane, WA in 1968 where they raised a family.
Sally worked at Paine Hamblen in the late 1980’s, but most of her time was spent raising her sons and supporting her family.
It was a rare occasion that she didn’t attend one of her son’s sporting events.
In her free time, she could often be found in the aisles of Auntie’s Bookstore and in her later years, she and Mike spent many mornings at Barnes & Noble.
Sally is preceded in death by her father Ray, mother Tina, and brother Paul.
She is survived by husband Mike; son Zach and his wife Sarah, son Tom and his wife Sue; and the “love of her life” granddaughter Hannah.
Sally’s family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Spokane Hospice House for their care and support during a difficult time.
Sally’s Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 27th at 10:00am, at Hennessey Funeral Home located at 2203 N. Division Street, Spokane, WA 99207
