Cheney district honors employee
The Cheney School District has named Denise Templeton, a special education paraeducator and lunch supervisor at Westwood Middle School, the Cheney School District Classified Employee of the Year.
Templeton has been with the district since 1979, when she was a teacher aide at Cheney Junior High School. After the district changed to a middle school system, she continued to help students and staff at Cheney Middle School until she transferred to Westwood Middle School in 2012.
Templeton is known for her quick wit and encouragement and has inspired many students to grow emotionally and academically, the district said.
The Classified School Employee of the Year program recognizes one classified employee from each of the state’s educational service districts. Templeton and other regional finalists are now in the running for the state Classified School Employee of the Year award.
