Spokane man shot dead during North Carolina visit

A member of the U.S. Army Reserves stationed in Spokane was shot and killed Saturday while visiting his family in North Carolina.

Raekwon Shannon, 19, was killed by his stepfather, Rico McConico, 40, near Lillington, south of Raleigh, investigators said.

The shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office said. Shannon was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

McConico was arrested shortly after the shooting and will be charged with first-degree murder, the sheriff’s office said.
