Carhartt to open retail store in downtown Spokane

Carhartt Inc. will open a downtown Spokane retail store in the historic Bennett Block building at the corner of Main and Howard.

The company, known for making outdoor work clothes, will move into the building owned by Dru Hieber later this year.

Carhartt is headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan, and last year company representatives visited the historic building.

It will be Carhartt’s first stand-alone retail store in the Spokane region. The company has a store in Seattle.

The announcement was made in a news release from the Downtown Spokane Partnership. Carhartt’s will open across the street from the downtown Macy’s, which announced last week that it would close in March.
