Insurance no guarantee

In Shawn Vestal’s Jan. 6 column he identified and verified what I have thought ever since Obamacare was approved. And that is just because people have insurance is no guarantee that they will be able to find medical care.

There has been a shortage of medical providers, mostly primary care, and particularly in rural areas, for some time. Solving the issue of lack of medical care will take a lot more than simply providing insurance. And levying a fine on people who do not have insurance when they, in fact, do not have access to medical care is just compounding the problem.
