Investigators say argument could be factor in fatal crash on Bigelow Gulch Road
Mon., July 25, 2016
Investigators believe a woman was arguing with her boyfriend when their car veered into oncoming traffic, causing a fatal head-on collision Sunday night on Bigelow Gulch Road.
The woman could face vehicular homicide and vehicular assault charges for the crash, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. The incident still is under investigation, and no names have been released.
The “causing vehicle,” a Honda Civic, was traveling east on Bigelow Gulch west of Evergreen Road when it crossed the center line and struck a Chevy Geo traveling west at about 8 p.m., Deputy Mark Gregory said.
The man driving the Geo was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. His wife, who was in the passenger seat, was pronounced dead at the scene, Gregory said.
The woman and boyfriend in the Civic received non-life-threatening injuries. Their 8-month-old daughter, who was in the back seat, appeared to be uninjured, Gregory said.
Investigators believe drugs or alcohol may have been involved.
