Man arrested for threatening to shoot up Apple Store

A 71-year-old man was arrested Sunday after witnesses said he threatened to come back with an AK-47 and shoot everyone in the downtown Spokane Apple Store.

Employees told police that the man became upset when he was told that no one was available to help him immediately but that he could make an appointment and return in two hours, according to court documents. They called police when he threatened to shoot people inside the store.

The man, identified as Edward J. Hayes, is now facing a charge of harassment-threats to kill. He allegedly admitted to police that he had threatened to “go crazy and shoot someone,” according to court documents.
