College softball: Emily Carosone’s grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted Auburn to a stunning 11-7 victory over Oklahoma on Tuesday night in Pklahoma City to force a deciding Game 3 for the NCAA softball championship.

Oklahoma led 7-0 after scoring six runs in the top of the second, but Auburn scored five runs with two outs in the bottom of the inning.

Auburn’s Kasey Cooper hit a two-run homer to tie the score at 7 in the bottom of the fourth.

Oklahoma’s Shay Knighten appeared to have hit a two-run homer in the sixth, but Tiffany Howard leaped at the fence and snagged it to end the inning with the score still tied at 7.

Game 3 is Wednesday night.

Oklahoma’s school-record win streak was snapped at 31 games. The Sooners had last lost on April 2.

Broncos start camp without CB Talib

NFL: The Denver Broncos began their three-day mandatory minicamp and await Aqib Talib’s return to team headquarters Wednesday so they can begin charting the cornerback’s recovery from a gunshot wound to his right leg.

Talib was shot in Dallas over the weekend and missed the Super Bowl champions’ visit to the White House.

No arrests have been made and police continue to investigate the shooting. WFAA-TV in Dallas said that according to police, the bullet entered Talib’s right thigh and exited his right calf. Such a trajectory suggests he could have shot himself.

The Broncos believe he’ll make a full recovery, but Talib, who’s had firearm incidents in his past, could be facing legal consequences and possible punishment from the NFL, which is looking into the matter.

Kaepernick back on field: Colin Kaepernick was cleared for individual work and took on-field reps Tuesday for the first time since undergoing multiple offseason surgeries.

The 28-year-old quarterback joined the rest of his 49ers teammates for a two-hour practice and took part in almost every session except for team scrimmages. He did some light throwing early during position drills then later engineered two drives during a 7-on-7 session.

Wiedmeier dies after battle with cancer: Cleveland Browns executive Bryan Wiedmeier has died following a four-year battle with brain cancer. He was 57.

Wiedmeier was diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer in 2012 and given 15 months to live. He defied medical predictions and lasted four more years. One week after undergoing surgery to have a tumor removed in 2012, Wiedmeier, who spent 35 years in the NFL, attended a Browns game and was awarded a game ball by then-coach Pat Shurmur after Cleveland beat San Diego.

Fowles, Moore lead perfect Minnesota

WNBA: Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore scored 21 points apiece as the Minnesota Lynx overcame a poor shooting first half to beat the Phoenix Mercury 89-81 in Minneapolis.

Minnesota (8-0) is off to its best start to a season since going 10-0 in 2012. It’s the third best start in WNBA history.

Montgomery finished with 18 points and Brunson added 12 – all in the second half – for Minnesota, which is ranked No. 1 in the AP WNBA power poll. Seimone Augustus suffered a head injury in the third quarter and did not return.

Sparks rout Liberty: Jantel Lavender scored a season-high 22, Kristi Toliver had 15 of her 19 points in the second half and the host Los Angeles Sparks beat the New York Liberty 100-77 to remain unbeaten.

Los Angeles (8-0) is one win away from tying a franchise record for most consecutive wins to start a season, set in 2001 and matched in 2003.

Nneka Ogwumike had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Essence Carson added 15 points for Los Angeles, which is ranked No. 2 in the AP WNBA power poll. Toliver outscored New York 15-14 in the third quarter as the Sparks built a 30-point lead.

Cash announces her retirement: New York Liberty forward Swin Cash has announced she will retire at the end of the season.

The 15-year WNBA veteran was the second pick in the 2002 draft and has won three championships in the league with Detroit (2003 and 2006) and Seattle (2010). She’s currently 14th in career scoring with just under 5,000 points. She also is 10th in rebounds.

She’s played for five WNBA teams and won two Olympic gold medals in her career.

Desormeaux out of rehab before Belmont

Miscellany: Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux returned from a short stay in a drug and alcohol rehab center and was aboard Preakness winner Exaggerator for a morning workout Tuesday before the Belmont Stakes this weekend.

The 46-year-old rider acknowledged those who are helping him through his struggles with alcohol.

With younger brother, Keith, Exaggerator’s trainer, by his side, Desormeaux said: “I think that my brother, mostly my wife, and my family have supported me through all the years, and it was my turn to say thank you.”

Exaggerator is expected to be the favorite in a field of 13 for the final leg of the Triple Crown at Belmont Park on Saturday.

Brazil police search construction firms: Brazil’s federal police searched the offices of a construction consortium behind one of Rio de Janeiro’s main Olympic sites on Tuesday as part of a probe into potential fraud, the police said in a statement.

Officials are looking at possible fraud in the transport and disposal of debris from construction at the massive Olympic site in Rio’s Deodoro neighborhood, where the equestrian, field hockey, canoeing and other events are to be held during the Aug. 5-21 games. The alleged scheme may have included the falsification of documents and price inflation, the statement said, without providing further details.

A report on G1, the internet portal of Brazilian broadcaster Globo, said a contract for the disposal of debris was initially estimated to cost 80 million Brazilian reais ($23 million), but ballooned to 147 million reais ($42 million). G1 also said it had obtained documents suggesting that more than a dozen drivers whose names appear in contracts denied ever having worked on the project.

As a result of the probe, a court has blocked 128 million Brazilian reais ($37 million) that were earmarked to pay the Deodoro Complex Consortium, the police statement said.

Wozniacki wins: Caroline Wozniacki’s first match in more than two months ended in victory as she beat Cagla Buyukakcay of Turkey 7-5, 6-3 in the first round of the Nottingham Open in Nottingham, England.

Wozniacki rolled her right ankle while practicing for the Fed Cup in early April and she missed the European clay-court swing. She’d last played in late March in Miami.
