Four corners: WSU Cougars

Coming up: Wednesday, March 9 vs. Pac-12 No. 5 at 2:30 p.m. (Pac-12 Network) at MGM Grand, Las Vegas

Outlook: Washington State’s season has been indisputably disappointing, but the Cougars can still beat expectations in 2016. WSU has not won a Pac-12 tournament game since the 2008-09 season, and while the Cougars lived up to expectations, fulfilling the media’s prophecy of a last-place Pac-12 finish, a postseason win could at least give the team some positive energy heading into offseason workouts. If the current standings hold (not especially likely with three teams holding 8-8 conference records), the Cougars would play Colorado. That matchup would be very winnable for the Cougars who lost to the Buffaloes by five points in Pullman, and in double overtime on the road.

WSU leaders:

Scoring: Josh Hawkinson 15.4 ppg

Assists: Ike Iroegbu 3.8 apg

Rebounds: Hawkinson 10.7 rpg
