The son of Roy and Blanche Theodorson, he was born on May 16, 1931 in Ray, North Dakota.

The family moved to Salem, Oregon in 1935 to make a better life during the Great Depression.

He met the love of his life, Norma, when he was 13 while delivering the newspaper to her house on his daily paper route.

Dean started working for Standard Oil Co. while still in high school and was transferred to Opportunity (Spokane Valley), WA in March 1956.

He also was a driver/salesman for Early Dawn Dairy for 18 years before being severely injured in a traffic accident in 1978.

After recovering, he began working for the Central Valley School District as a custodian.

He retired in 2001.

He loved high school athletics, especially football and basketball and was always there to cheer on his kids and grand-kids.

Gonzaga basketball season was his favorite time of the year.

He also enjoyed horse racing and playing blackjack.
