Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 12 in Walnut Creek, California.

He was born in Spokane, Washington to John Henry Harrison and Mary Loretta Donahue.

Richard’s three older brothers predeceased him: Donald Harrison, Jack Harrison, and Reverend Fred Harrison S.J.

His wife of 52 years Mary Louise Lavin died in 1999.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946 and was stationed in France during WWII.

Richard graduated from Gonzaga University in 1949.

He spent his entire career with Kaiser Aluminum.

He worked in Spokane, Portland, Oregon, Oakland, California, Chicago, Illinois, Berlin and Dusseldorf Germany.

His most memorable work experience was the seven years he spent in Berlin as founding manager of Kaiser Aluminum Kabel Werke.


Richard had many interests including cooking, gardening, travel, reading and debate.

He was known for his planning and organization and elaborate filing system.
He had an intense interest in other people.

He loved knowing their stories and got genuine pleasure from other people’s success and happiness.

He was charming and a wonderful storyteller.

Most of all Richard loved his family.

His daughter Ann Louise Freeman preceded him in death; his other four children survive him: Mary Lanctot (Stephen), Kathleen Asfeh, Monica Galeucia (Gary), and Richard Harrison Jr.

He was the loved grandfather of twelve grandchildren: Kathryn Tribby- Moore, Colleen Tribby- Lembo, Brendan Lanctot, Madelyn Lanctot, Caitlin Lanctot, Soraya McLaughlin, Shanna Asfeh, Alexander Asfeh, Lindsay Hanno, Christopher Galeucia, Richard Joseph II, Kenneth Harrison, and eight great- grandchildren.

He is also survived by his dear friend Joanne Morgan.
