Obituary: Lake, Marikay
LAKE, Marikay
68 Years of Life
My mom.
Marikay Lake.
The quiet warrior, went back home to God April 14, 2016, after being diagnosed with terminal cancer February 13, 2016.
She just turned 68 years old.
My mom, Kaye, took the diagnosis and accepted it…bravely, because she was and always will be our armor.
She never knew how strong she was, but we did.
She was modest, had the up most integrity and was loving and loyal.
My mom was my biggest fan.
She was smart and had a wicked humor and a funny laugh.
She had a heartbreaking cry and the prettiest blue eyes that would search yours clear down to your soul.
My mom and dad had a beautiful love story.
At the time of my dad’s sudden passing in 2008, Ed and Kaye were together 42 years.
42 years of pure love and partnership and a graceful example of marriage and family.
It was a long eight years without my dad by her side as usual.
I think my mom bravely faced her mortality yet looked forward to being reunited with her only love.
To the very last moment my mom was making sure we were going to be okay…I assured her we were and it was time to go home to dad.
I pray we will live to make them proud.
The values my mom taught us were more than just values…they were parts of her that we will always respect.
Marikay Lake is survived by so many family and friends, me, her only child; her grandchildren: Christopher and his wife Ariel Roth, and their baby Braxton, Matthew Adams, Preston Saario, and Krystal Saario and her children Inessa and Izakk.
Kaye requested no services to be held, she said we had all endured enough.
I think part of this request was, again, her modesty.
She always said, “I don’t want to be fussed over, just loved.”
Well I just did ya one better mom…I did both!
Gods speed to you mom, Kaye, Nana, “the Great One.”
Love always, your very proud and thankful daughter, Cynthia.
Namaste mama.
Condolences can be sent to 20406 N. Market Rd., Colbert, WA 99005.
Please address all things to Kaye Lake.
If you feel compelled to send a card…send on to her, tell of a funny story, a touching memory or how you met.
We know you’re sorry for our loss and we are so very sorry for yours, too.
We would love to be the little birdies on the window listening to all the amazing stories told by her friends and family.
Go hug your loved ones, tell people that you care about, that they matter…Life can change in one moment…Make all your moments count.
