Obituary: Nelson, Jeunette

Age 103

NELSON,
Jeunette
(Age 103)

Our wonderful mother, Jeunette Irene Nelson (Newborg) was born November 16, 1912 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to George and Inga Newborg.

She survived her 10 siblings and died May 3, 2016 with her children by her side.

She was born to immigrant parents from Sweden and Norway and was raised on the family farm.

Growing up on the farm she learned how to handle just about everyone and everything.

She left the farm early in life with an education you couldn’t buy at any school.
She married Louis Martin and had a son, Louis, Jr. After the untimely accidental death of Louis Sr., she married Herb Nelson and had two children, Herb, Jr. and Louise.
She spent the last 65 years of her life in Spokane, Washington.

During that time, she learned how to drive, how to make a living as a cosmetologist, how to be a wonderful mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a great friend to many.
During her 103 years, she saw most of our world evolve to what it is today.

Few will be able to duplicate that experience.
She is survived by Louis Martin (Diane), Herb Nelson (Cathy), Louise Lewis (Chris), 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great- great-grandchildren.

All of us are blessed by having her in our memories.

Her life and memory will continue to have a positive influence on those she knew and touched.

An epic birthday party was held on her 100th birthday bringing many family members from across the country and friends from Spokane, including close friends from Harvard Park, to honor her.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Harvard Park, Brookdale and Hospice of Spokane.

Her last years were spent under their careful watch and we appreciate their caring efforts in ways that are hard to express.
A celebration of her life will be held at Harvard Park, Saturday May 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM.

The address is 1616 E 30th Ave. We will be getting together in the Social Room on the main floor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

If possible, please consider giving your mother a big hug and telling her that you love her.
