Chelan County brush fire threatens homes

Authorities issued evacuation notices Sunday for two housing developments near a 50-acre brush fire north of Entiat, Washington, in Chelan County.

Wind gusts of 50 mph fanned the flames of the fire in the Ribbon Cliff area, a rocky hillside behind the Columbia Breaks Fire Interpretive Center.

Around 130 homes were issued Level 2 orders – be ready to leave – should the fire intensify.

Smoke was heavy in the area, but no roads had been closed.
