MALLOY, Geraldine S.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Geraldine Suzanne (Gregor) Malloy died peacefully Wednesday, May 4, 2016 surrounded by family.
Gerry was born June 26, 1928 in Cleveland, OH to John F. Gregor and Julia (Russin) Gregor.

She attended St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Grade School in Columbus, OH before the family moved to Olympia, WA where Gerry graduated from Olympia High School in 1946.

She attended Washington State College (WSU) for two years, then married Robert W. Malloy on June 3, 1950.

They enjoyed 64 blessed years together.

Following the birth of their first daughter in Olympia, they moved to Astoria, OR and welcomed the birth of a second daughter.

The final move to Spokane, WA came in 1953.

The family put down roots in the Spokane Valley and grew with the addition of three more daughters and six sons.
As a master of the economies of scale and the principles of the assembly line she excelled at managing her supersized family.

Pragmatic and unflappable with a sense of humor that ranged from subtle to hilarious she accepted the challenges life presented.

She was steadfast in her devotion to her family and faith and was a member of the parish Altar Society, a Girl Scout leader, and perennial volunteer at her children’s grade school.

Always active she enjoyed backyard softball and after the children were grown developed a passion for playing tennis and golf.

She enjoyed travel, birthday lunches with “the ladies,” and annual get-togethers with the Progressive Dinner gang.
She was a loving wife, mother to eleven, grandmother to thirty, and great-grandmother to twenty-three.

She is survived by her children: daughters, Susan (Jim) Scott, Peggy (Tim) Smith, Spokane Valley, WA, Nancy Miller, Hamilton, MT, Janet (David) Solberg, Jo (Scott) Hoffman, Liberty Lake, WA; and sons Bill (Meg) Malloy, Hayden, ID, Greg (Tracie) Malloy, Otis Orchards, WA, Chris (Ann) Malloy, Tim (Leslie) Malloy, Spokane Valley, WA, Jeff (Randi) Malloy, Dave (Vikki) Malloy, Spirit Lake, ID; and her sister Juel (Leonard) Malloy of Spokane Valley.

She is predeceased by her husband, Bob Malloy and her parents John and Julia Gregor.
A Rosary will be held Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 7:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99216.

The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerry’s name may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic School Foundation, 304 S. Adams Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99216.
