Loving husband, father, and “Pops”.
Charles Shortz of Medical Lake passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 24th, 2016 at age 80.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of nearly 60 years, Wardena “Dena”; daughter, Susan (Bruce) Greene of Cheney, WA; son Steven (Anna) of Reno, NV; brother Carl (Kelly) of Brooksville, FL and sister Cathy (Lyle) Nichols of Brooklyn, MI; grandchildren Marissa (Toby) Broemmeling, Brendan Greene, Timothy (Amanda) Green, Sophia Shortz; and four great- grandchildren, Wyatt, Harper, Lillian, and Abigail.
He was preceded in death by his parents Chas.
and Catherine, sister, Kay, and brother Fred.
He was born in San Pedro, CA and raised in Michigan.
Charles graduated in 1954 from Stockbridge, MI and joined the USAF.
He was stationed at bases in N. Africa, Alaska, Okinawa, Germany, Missouri, California, and Arizona.
He retired at Fairchild AFB, WA after serving 26 years as an air traffic controller.
He then traveled through numerous states as a long haul trucker for nearly 20 years, before finally retiring and enjoying gold panning, camping, tinkering, traveling, and spending time with family.
He will be greatly missed, but is now with Jesus watching over those he loved.
