Spokane native, Virginia (Linden) Van Camp passed away May 2, in her home in Friday Harbor.
The eldest child of Carl and Amy Linden, and sister to Arlene, she attended Arlington Elementary school and later graduated from Rogers High School in 1950.
In 1953 Virginia and Bill Van Camp were married.
While finishing her BA in Fine Arts and her Masters of Art Education, she and Bill raised three daughters: Joy, Joellen and Maggie.
Her teaching career at Spokane Community College spanned 13 years, earning her the award of Washington State Humanities Teacher of the Year for her part in creating interdisciplinary programs.
Upon retirement, she joined her daughters and their families on San Juan Island, where she continued teaching and participating in the artistic community.

A reception will be held at the Memorial Terrace under the Cross of Inspiration in Greenwood Cemetery on Government Way at 3:30pm on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.
