Local Ford dealerships join grocers to collect peanut butter for kids’ summer meals

From staff reports

Local Ford dealerships are joining grocery stores in a drive to collect peanut butter for kids who might not have access to school meals during the summer vacation.

Wendle Ford is working with Yoke’s grocery stores, and Gus Johnson Ford is pairing with Trading Company Stores.

The peanut butter collected will be donated to Second Harvest of the Inland Northwest.

Wendle Ford’s collection will run from Saturday through May 21. Unopened jars of peanut butter can be dropped at the dealership, at 9000 N. Division St., or at Yoke’s stores in the Spokane area.

Gus Johnson Ford’s campaign with Trading Company and Franz Bread bakery has a matching component – for each jar donated, the dealership and grocery store will each donate a jar of peanut butter, and Franz will donate a loaf of bread.

That campaign runs from May 17-20, and donations can be dropped off at the dealership at 8300 E. Sprague Ave., or on May 20 at Trading Company, 13014 E. Sprague Ave., from 3-6 p.m.

The peanut butter drives are part of a five-state campaign in the Pacific Northwest by Ford dealers to support their community food banks.
