Obituary: Patterson, Elsie June
Age 89
Elsie June Patterson was born on May 27th, 1927, in Kiowa, Colorado, to John D. and Marion (Lord) Thomas.
She attended school in Littleton, CO.
In 1944, the family moved to Spokane, Washington, where Elsie lived until she passed away on May 9th, 2016 at the age of 88.
Elsie married the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Patterson, in 1947, and they were together for over 47 years until his death.
They had three children, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A thoughtful and gracious woman, Elsie had an abundance of friends and neighbors with whom she enjoyed spending her time.
She enjoyed attending church, working in her garden, playing darts and was an avid bowler.
Elsie also volunteered her time as a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader and with organizations such as the Women of the Moose and the Angels in Disguise Guild (Spokane Guild’s School).
Her family have fond memories of playing cards, sewing and crafting, and baking cookies.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents, John and Marion Thomas; and her sister, Frances Staggs.
She is survived by her brother, David Thomas (Sharron); daughter, Kathy Green (Tim Doneen); daughter, Barbara Pryde (Gregg); son, Gerald “Jerry” Patterson (Allison); granddaughters Nikki Graham-Brown and Cassie Elliott; great-granddaughter Stella Brown; great-grandson Dustin Elliott; close family friend Ron Goblick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 2 PM at Northwood Presbyterian Church, 6721 N. Monroe Street, Spokane, WA 99205.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Spokane Guilds’ School or Northwood Presbyterian Church.
Thank you to the staff from both Royal Park Retirement Center and Horizon Hospice for the kindness and care given to Elsie in her last years.
The family is eternally grateful.
