Passed away May 14, 2016 in Federal Way, Washing-ton.
He was born October 11, 1956 in Ritzville, Washington to Earl and Ethel (Adams) Shields and was a graduate of Sprague High School, class of 1975.
Doug lived on the family farm in Lamont until the family moved to Sprague when he was 12.
He attended Eastern Washington University where he earned a bachelors degree in 1979.
Doug was married to Julie Pratt of St. John, WA on December 17, 1977.
He lived and worked as an insurance agent in Sprague, WA for many years.
While living in Sprague he served on the School Board and coached basketball and baseball.
He has lived and worked in Federal Way, WA for the past three years.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Shields of Federal Way, WA; children, Brandon (Vu) Shields of Seattle, WA, Joel (Amelia) Shields of Newport, OR, and Krystal Shields of Federal Way, WA; grandchildren, L.J.
and James Shields; brother, David Shields; sister, Connie Shields-Niemeyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, at the St. John Cemetery in St. John, WA followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church in Sprague.
A potluck reception will follow in the church social hall.
