Patrick H. Rooney left us to be with the Lord on Monday, May 17, 2016 at age 85 years old.

Just three days after being diagnosed with Acute Leukemia.
Patrick was born on June 12, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas.

He was the first son and oldest child of the late James Harold Rooney and Josephine Meehan Rooney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Rooney and his sister, Mary Kathleen Ruth (Rooney).

Patrick attended college at St. Mary’s University of Texas, Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, and University of Washington in Seattle, WA.

Majoring in Electrical Engineering, with extensive studies in micro and macroeconomics, advanced mathematics, statistics and computer science.

He listed in the Airforce on February 3, 1950 and served for four years.

Patrick was a very educated and humble man, very loving husband, stepfather and grandfather; he spent his retirement enjoying his passions (photography, music, and reading).

Patrick is survived by his wife, Mary A. Avery Rooney of Spokane, WA; her children, all from Spokane, WA: Sheri Hibbs, Timothy Olson, and Christopher Olson; Nephew, Dennis Ruth (Vienna, Virginia); Niece, Kathleen Alexander (Carmel, IN) and Sheila Paladino (Dayton, VA); five nieces and nephews: Elizabeth, Brian, and Lauren Alexander of Carmel, IN and Aiden and Devon Keesee of Dayton, VA.
A viewing will be held at Hennessey Funeral Home(2203 N. Division St, Spokane, WA) on Monday, May 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00 followed by a rosary at 7:00.
A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be performed on Tuesday, May 24th, 2016 at 12:00 pm at St. Francis of Assisi Parish (1104 W. Heroy, Spokane, WA) with Father Mike Blackburn officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow at 1:30 at Holy Cross Cemetery.

A reception will follow at home.
