Sheriff’s Office searching for suspects in Spokane Valley assault

From staff reports

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two men suspected of assaulting a man in his Spokane Valley apartment Tuesday morning.

The victim told deputies he was at home around 1:25 a.m. Tuesday in an apartment complex in the 12200 block of East Fourth Avenue when he heard someone pounding on the door, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. He opened the door after he looked through the peephole and saw nothing, he told deputies.

He said two men rushed toward him and tried to push him back inside the apartment, causing all three of them to fall down the stairs, the release said.

The victim told deputies the suspects fled after a fight, and said he heard a gunshot from the parking lot, the release said. He said he didn’t know who would have wanted to attack him. He had some cuts and minor injuries but declined medical attention, the release said.

The victim described the suspects as black men wearing dark clothing with masks covering their faces, the release said. A small silver sedan was seen leaving the area around the time of the assault, but it’s not clear whether the vehicle was involved. A police dog track near the complex was unable to locate any suspects, the release said.

Anyone with information about the assault should call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
