Firefighters rescue man who drove into Spokane River at Mission Avenue

A man drove down an embankment and into the Spokane River at Mission Avenue and Upriver Drive on Friday afternoon, but was conscious when he was pulled from his minivan.

Multiple witnesses said the man was traveling eastbound on Mission when he appeared to suffer a medical emergency, possibly a seizure.

Firefighters used ladders to rescue him and he was transported to an area hospital.
