College volleyball: Eagles clinch spot in Big Sky tournament
Eastern Washington qualified for the Big Sky Conference volleyball tournament by defeating Montana State 3-1 on Thursday in Cheney.
Scores were 25-18, 21-25, 25-22 and 25-22 as the Eagles (7-8, 12-12) remain in seventh place with one match remaining. The top eight teams advance to the conference tournament. EWU hosts Montana on Saturday at 8 p.m. in the final regular-season match.
(12) BYU 3, Gonzaga 1: The Cougars (23-3, 12-2 WCC) defeated the Bulldogs (14-10, 7-7) in a WCC match in Provo, Utah. Among the team highs for Gonzaga were Emmy Allen with 11 kills, Tessie Powers with 13 digs and Powers with 34 assists. Gonzaga plays at No. 7 San Diego on Saturday.
