Man shot in stomach in North Spokane County

A man was reported to be in serious but stable condition after a shooting in North Spokane County early Tuesday evening.

Deputies were called to the 27300 block of North Dalton in Deer Park just before 5 p.m. on a report of a man shot in the abdomen, said Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Mark Gregory.

Initial reports are that the victim and a second man, identified as 60-year-old Daniel L. Early, argued over drugs before Early shot the victim, said Gregory.

While deputies were responding Early called 911 and said he had been assaulted by the victim, Gregory said. He reported his location in the 600 block of East ‘B’ Street in Deer Park and waited for deputies arrived. He reportedly told investigators that he acted in self defense.

Early was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault.
