Westview will host ceremony

There will be an art dedication ceremony Thursday at Westview Elementary School for two pieces by Seattle artist Katy Stone, installed at the school as part of the Art in Public Places project.

The ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m. at Westview, 3520 W. Bismark Ave.

‘Side by Side by Sondheim’ opens

Saint George’s School’s music and drama department’s production of “Side by Side by Sondheim,” featuring the music of Stephen Sondheim, opens Thursday.

The cast includes Alana Foster, Truman Harris, Ryan Hayes, Hunter Hyde, Susie Jones, Katherine Lee, Anna Nowland and Mickey Zhang.

Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the school’s Dragon Room, 2929 W. Waikiki Road. A spaghetti dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

In advance, tickets are $11.50 and available at http://sgs-sidebyside.eventbrite.com until three hours before the shows. At the door, tickets are $13, cash or check only.

Charity golf event accepting participants

The third annual Vorpahl Wing Securities Charity Golf event, which benefits Martin Luther King Jr. Family Outreach Center, the Joel E. Ferris High School Band and the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Spokane, will be Friday at Hangman Valley Golf Course, 2210 E. Hangman Valley Road.

Golfers can enter the 18-round golf day for $125 per person or $500 for a four-person team, which includes a breakfast check-in event, green fees and golf cart, food and beverages on the course, drawings, a barbecue dinner and professional photography of the event from Green Gables Photography.

Teams will compete for a first-place prize of $500 cash. Participants can compete in a Hole-in-One contest for a chance to win a new car, a longest drive contest and a closest to the pin contest.
