Washout closes State Route 21 south of Republic in Ferry County

State Route 21 was closed south of Republic for a washout on Saturday, April 8, 2017. (Washington State Department of Transportation)

A washout has shut down State Route 21 at Gold Creek about 15 miles south of Republic in Ferry County and it’s not known when the road will be able to reopen.

No detour is available for southbound traffic. Northbound traffic can use a lengthy detour that includes using Cache Creek Road to get to Nespelem, taking Highway 155 to Omak, then going north on Highway 97 to Tonasket before taking State Route 20 to Republic.

Seasonal weight restrictions are in place along the northbound detour route and large trucks are prohibited, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
