The Mariners combined with the Tigers for 40 total hits in Tuesday’s game at Detroit. The M’s accounted for 16 hits in 38 at-bats in their 19-9 loss at Comerica Park.

Seattle shortstop Jean Segura and M’s slugger Nelson Cruz led the team with three hits, including a home run apiece. Mitch Haniger was 2 for 2 before leaving the game in the third with a strained oblique. His replacement, Danny Valencia, was also 2 for 2, with a homer and a single against Detroit.

Taylor Motter had the worst performance at the plate for the Mariners, notching only one hit in five attempts on Tuesday.

Ian Kinsler led Detroit’s 24-hit night with four hits in five appearances against the M’s.
