Tech frustration relatable feeling

I can relate to your confusion when confronted with a “new” technology with which you have no experience (“Front Porch: Technology might drive me crazy, or to the beach,” Stefanie Pettit, July 27). I do have an Android phone that is large, which is why I bought it. However, my use is confined to talking, texting, taking pictures, and listening to directions. I finally learned how to do that last one.

I was having my hair cut one day when my phone, which was in my purse, rang. Michelle, my hairstylist, said, “Do you need to get that?” I said, “No, I own the phone.” That was a new one for her.

Several weeks ago, when I was on the West Side, we went to a Mexican food restaurant. There were tables outside. As we walked into the restaurant, I noticed a table with four people, all of whom were texting and certainly not looking at each other. Our daughter (who is very tech savvy) and I just looked at each other and shook our heads.

Technology has taken over the world.
