Man found after spending night in the cold
A 37-year-old Athol, Idaho, man was transported to Pullman Regional Hospital on Wednesday after apparently getting his vehicle stuck in the snow along Old Albion Road and spending the night out in the cold.
According to a news release from the Whtiman County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report of vehicle stuck in the ditch around 8 a.m. When deputies arrived, the vehicle was not occupied.
After deputies contacted the registered owner of the vehicle, it was determined the owner’s brother, Jeremy J. Rogers, had borrowed the vehicle. Deputies were able to contact Rogers by calling his cellphone, and Rogers said he had crashed the vehicle Tuesday night and had been walking since. According to the news release, Rogers could not provide a good description of his location and his cellular signal was lost.
According to the news release, Albion and Pullman rural firefighters followed Rogers’ footprints in the snow and were able to locate the man roughly a quarter-mile east of Albion at approximately 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Rogers was transported to the hospital due to exposure to the cold.
According to the news release, Rogers’ license is suspended through Idaho.
Local fire personnel, the Lifeflight helicopter, Washington State Patrol Troopers and area police officers assisted deputies in the search for Rogers.
