Area girls: Meghan Devorak leads Colton past Pomeroy for District 9 1B title

Meghan Devorak scored 14 points and Colton (20-2) defeated visiting the Pomeroy (16-6) 61-49 on Friday to win the District 9 1B title at Colfax HS.

Colton – ranked No. 1 in state 1B – advances to regionals, while 11th-ranked Pomeroy faces Oakesdale in a play-in game to regionals on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Pomeroy led by one at intermission, but Colton hit its free throws down the stretch in a 20-9 fourth-quarter run. Abby Kelly and Dakota Patchen added 13 points apiece for Colton.

Heidi Heytvelt and Sydney Watko led Pomeroy with 11 points apiece and Kacey Halbert added 10.

Oakesdale vs. Touchet: Lindsey Lindgren and Logan Reed scored nine points apiece and the Nighthawks (18-5), ranked second in state 1B, eliminated the Indians (12-8).

Touchet took an early 11-5 lead, but Oakesdale turned up the defense and shut out the Indians in the second quarter to lead 19-11 at intermission. Jacey Johnson scored all of her eight points in the frame.

Touchet was led by Paytyn Richatz with seven points.

District 7 1A

Okanogan 55, Lakeside 43: Jordan Boesel scored 22 points and the visiting Bulldogs (18-4) eliminated the Eagles (13-9) 55-43 on Friday in a District 7 1A crossover matchup.

Okanogan, ranked fourth in state 1A, advances to regionals.

Close throughout, Boesel swished two 3-pointers to spark a third-quarter run for Okanogan.

Lakeside was led by Hallie Jensen, Joelle Mahowald, and Sienna Swannack, all with 11 points apiece.
