Spokane County closes additional roads due to flooding

Spokane County road crews closed two additional roads Saturday as they continue to deal with flooding and road washouts brought on by this week’s heavy rain.
Spokane Bridge Road from Appleway Avenue to the Idaho state line is now closed, as is White Road from state Highway 902 to Craig Road.
Rain returned Saturday after a dry Friday, but accumulations were expected to be light. A system expected to move in late Sunday or early Monday could bring up to three-quarters of an inch of rain by early Tuesday. The precipitation could start as a mix of snow and rain before turning to rain as temperatures warm, according to the National Weather Service. Mountain locations should expect to see snow.
This month’s rainfall is approaching the record of 5.62 inches of rain in February 1940.
Friday’s dry weather helped some flooded areas improve. Randall Road was reopened at the Madison Road intersection around 9 a.m. Saturday. It had been closed since Thursday morning.
More than a dozen additional roads are still closed. They are:
- Mt. Carlton Road from Highway 206 to Feehan Road.
- Kellogg Road approximately 1 mile off state Highway 206 at end of road.
- Cheney-Plaza Road between Patterson Road and Wells Road. Due to traffic coming from U.S. Highway 195, “Road closed” signs will be posted on Cheney-Plaza Road at each intersection to advise drivers, according to Spokane County staff.
- Judkins Road from Forker Road to Morrison Road.
- Bradshaw Road from Starr Road to the Idaho state line.
- Madison Road from Sillman Road to Randall Road.
- Watt Road from North Spangle Road to Yale Road.
- Colbert Road from Yale Road to Boston Road.
- Ballard Road from Dartford Drive to Austin Road.
- Dunn Road from Woolard Road to Big Meadows Road.
- Bruce Road from Chattaroy Road to Orchard Bluff Road.
- January Drive from Fruit Vale Road to West Terrace Drive.
- Harvard Road from Calumet Road to Howie Road and from Elder Road to Stringham Road.
- Stoughton Road from Larkin Road to Darknell Road.
- Chapman Road off Highway 27.
- Roberts Road from the Waverly Road cutoff to Kelso Road.
