Man shot by deputy after making threats with sharp object

Associated Press

BURIEN, Wash. – A man died after being shot by a King County Sheriff’s deputy in the Seattle suburb of Burien, Washington.

KOMO-TV reported the incident happened at about 12:10 a.m. Wednesday.

King County Sheriff’s Office says it began when a person knocked on a friend’s door yelling someone was chasing him with a knife. The homeowner confronted the attacker with a gun.

The man with the knife moved toward the homeowner, who responded by firing a warning shot into the ground, but the man kept advancing.

The homeowner raced into his home and the attacker pounded on the door yelling that he was “The Creator.”

When deputies arrived, the man refused to drop the sharp object and moved toward the deputies.

After two Taser shots were not effective, a deputy fired at the suspect. He was taken to the hospital and later died.
