Spokane Shadow men lose fourth straight match
Luis Galeano scored two goals including the go-ahead score in first-half stoppage time to lead FCM Portland to a 2-1 victory at Spokane Falls CC on Sunday over the Spokane Shadow’s men’s first team, which suffered its fourth straight National Premier Soccer League loss.
Galeano gave Portland a 1-0 lead just six minutes into the game.
Spokane tied it on a penalty kick by Zach Hamer in the 37th minute after Jordan Selland fouled Johny Cortez in the box.
Galeano’s tiebreaker came after taking a pass from Glapoujay Garmondeh.
The Shadow had several chances to tie in the second half, the final one coming in the 90th minute when Tyler Smith was fouled driving toward the box. However, the free kick was off-target.
Portland holds down first place in the Northwest Division standings with 12 points via a 4-2-0 record. The Shadow are fifth in the six-team division at 1-4-3 for six points.
The Shadow 2 team gave up two goals in the first seven minutes and lost to Yakima United on the road, 4-0.
Spokane is last in the eight-team Evergreen Premier League Washington standings with three points off a 1-8-0 record. Yakima (2-4-2) is seventh with eight points.
The Shadow women’s team was idle this weekend and will be again next weekend along with both men’s teams.
