Off the Wall: Mariners’ GM Jerry Dipoto shows off skills during pitcher’s fielding practice
We’re not actually in Arizona covering Seattle Mariners spring training, but the Tacoma News Tribune’s Bob Dutton is. Dutton reported via Twitter that during pitcher’s fielding practice (PFP) on Tuesday, the coaches took on the players with a challenge to break up the monotony of the drill.
Not only did the coaches participate, but GM Jerry Dipoto took part as well. And from the looks of it, Dipoto – an eight-year MLB veteran – showed the kids a thing or two.
Dipoto looks to be in pretty good shape, so he probably won’t be too sore out there tomorrow.
These type of camaraderie activities, taken in moderation, are good for the team to keep things light during the seemingly endless days of drills during spring training. It’s also good to remind the players that Dipoto was once in their shoes.
