Teens injured in tubing accident on Pend Oreille River

Three teenagers were injured in a tubing accident on the Pend Oreille River Monday afternoon, but they were not seriously injured according to the Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of a boat, 69-year-old Robert Rockser, was pulling three teens on a tube in the area of Wagon Wheel Road when he turned too close to shore and the tube collided with a dock, sending the teens flying. A 15-year-old boy was taken to Newport Community Hospital as a precaution and 18-year-olds Tatum Holestine and Kayle Bowers received minor injuries.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The crash is still under investigation.
