Some Central Valley school went on modified lock down Monday

Central Valley School district was in modified lock down for several hours Monday for a “potential threat.”

The district limited access to buildings, according to an email sent to parents, but classes went on as normal.

Deputy Mark Gregory, spokesman for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, said the call originated out of Liberty Lake involving a “troubled runaway” that left home over the weekend.

Gregory said there were rumors the student was going to do something at a school, though it was unknown which school. Administrators worked with school resource officers and decided to go into modified lock down Monday morning until the threat could be assessed.

“We have not been able to locate any verifiable threats,” Gregory said Monday afternoon.

The lock down was lifted after several hours.

Schools involved were Mica Peak High School, Central Valley High School, Liberty Creek Elementary School, Adams Elementary School, Progress Elementary School the Early Learning Center, Greenacres Elementary and Green Acres Middle School.
